
NEW FOR 2015! The Berkeley Half Marathon Relay
We’re excited to announce our newest addition to The Berkeley Half Marathon! The Berkeley Half Marathon Relay is a two-leg relay which covers a 13.1-mile loop course. The relay is a fantastic tour of Berkeley’s best spots, including iconic Telegraph Avenue, UC Berkeley campus, the city’s iconic tree canopies, charming neighborhoods, and picturesque waterfront.
(Relay teams must register together. No single relay participant registration is allowed.)
1st Leg
- 1st Leg will automatically be assigned to the 1st registrant on registration page.
- Distance: 7 Miles
- Specific distance subject to route changes.
- Start Location: Martin Luther King Jr. Civic Center Park, 2151 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Berkeley, CA 94704
- Start Time: 8:12 AM-8:22 AM
- Start with waves 3 and 4 of half marathon
- No elites/subseeds
- Exchange Point Location: 1609 4th St., Berkeley, CA, 94710
- Busing:
- Buses will be available to transport 1st leg runners from the Relay Exchange Point back to the Start Line at Civic Center Park. Runners will need to show their bib to ride the bus.
- Buses leave Exchange Point from 9:00 AM -11:00 AM (exact loading zone TBD)
2nd Leg
- 2nd Leg will automatically be assigned to the 2nd registrant on registration page.
- Distance: 6.1 Miles
- Specific distance subject to route changes.
- Start Location: Exchange Point @ 1609 4th St., Berkeley, CA, 94710
- Start Time: When 1st leg runner reaches exchange point (approximately 8:40am-10:30am)
- Finish Location: Martin Luther King Jr. Civic Center Park, 2151 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Berkeley, CA 94704
- Busing:
- Buses will be available to transport 2nd leg runners from the main start/finish line at Civic Center Park to the Exchange Point. Runners will need to show their bib to ride the bus.
- Buses leave between 7:30 AM and 8:15 AM from Civic Center Park (exact loading zone TBD)
All relay teams are required to finish the race within 4 hours, an 18:20 minute/mile pace. The Finish Line will close promptly at 12:30 pm. Second leg runners who come in after this time will not be considered official finishers.

Amenities
Both Relay participants receive a technical fabric long-sleeved shirt.
Both finishers receive a finisher’s medal, electronic finisher’s certificate, and individual care, both on and off the course and following – including food, beverage, heat sheet and availability of medical care.

Event Change Requests
Runners may request an event change based on the event availability. There will be a $10.00 event change fee for all event changes, plus the difference in events. No refunds will be given for downgrading your event. All event changes must be submitted via email, and will only be accepted until September 15th, or until events sell out. Wave Change Requests
Bib numbers and waves will be assigned in October via email. Runners may request a wave change at the Expo wave change table based on wave availability. Wave changes are not guaranteed and will be based on availability in the wave. Updates to your estimated finish time can be made until September 15th. Please email support@emallc.
Shirt Change Requests
We will accept shirt change requests until September 15th, 2015. You must notify us via email to switch your shirt size. After September 15th you will need to pick up your assigned t-shirt size at packet pick-up and exchange it at the Finish Line on Race Day.
Cancellation Policy
We adhere to the standard road racing industry policy. All entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. This is noted on our registration application, and when you register for any of our events you must agree to this policy. You may not give or sell your number to another individual – if you do this could result in your disqualification as well as the runner who uses your race number.
The entry fee for this year’s event will not transfer to next year’s event, no exceptions. This policy stays in effect whether you are injured, have an unexpected business or family emergency, pregnancy, etc. There are no exceptions. Any inquiry regarding this policy will be directed back to this page.
In the event you cannot run the 2015 race at all, please enclose a written request with your cancellation and include your name, gender, address, and phone number. By canceling your registration you won’t receive a refund, but we will send you the race shirt after the race. Medals are not sent to those who do not actually complete the course. We do not accept emailed cancellations. We must receive your written cancellation by November 1st. If your written cancellation is received after that date, we will not be able to process it.
