Who is Producing this Race?
We are Jumping Fences, a locally-based production company, and we have been in the event production business in the Bay Area for over 25 years. In addition to the Berkeley Half Marathon, Jumping Fences also produces a variety of local running events in the Bay Area, including The San Francisco Marathon.
How Did We Choose Berkeley as the Location for this Race?
Over the years we’ve achieved wonderful success and participation with The San Francisco Marathon. We surveyed our participants and after reviewing the feedback from the local running community, it was clear that they would love to see another race in the region. With that in mind, we looked to the East Bay to find a venue for a new race.
Berkeley is such an amazing, diverse city, we felt it was high time individuals had an opportunity to tour this beautiful community and enjoy all of the elements that make Berkeley the unique community it is.
Partnering with the City of Berkeley, local run clubs, charities and businesses, the event is very much about building relationships with the Berkeley community and finally giving the local runners a race on their home turf.
With overwhelmingly positive feedback from the City of Berkeley and the local running community, we are optimistic that this is an annual tradition in the making. It’s been three years in planning, but we are encouraged by how excited the Berkeley citizens are about this event.
