Elite and Subseed Athletes

The Berkeley Half Marathon invites athletes to apply for elite or subseed status for our Half Marathon. The Berkeley Half Marathon will distribute complimentary or discounted entries to approved athletes based on past performance.

Elite and Subseed bibs are limited and approved athletes will be assigned starting placement in the front of the pack at the beginning of the race. The requirements and application forms for Elite and Subseed registration are explained below and involve a thorough check of past performances.

Elite Athlete Requirements and Applications

The first 125 athletes that meet the elite qualifying standards will receive complimentary entries to the Half Marathon. Submitted times must have been achieved within the last two years to be considered and must be from equal or greater distances.

Elite Athlete Qualifying Times

Men: Half Marathon: Sub 1:18
Women: Half Marathon: Sub 1:28
Non-Binary+: Half Marathon: Sub 1:28

Subseed Athlete Requirements and Applications

The first 125 athletes that meet the sub-seed qualifying standards will receive discounted entries. Subseed Athletes will also be assigned starting placement just behind the Elite Athletes, at the beginning of the race. Times must have been achieved in the past two years and of equal distanceto be considered.
