Race Start: 8:30AM @ Milvia St. at Kittredge St, Berkeley, CA 94704

Race Finish: Crescent Lawn on UC Berkeley Campus. 5K finishers join the Half Marathon and 10K finishers at the main Finish Line Festival in Civic Center Park, Berkeley to celebrate.

Course Certification: The 5K course is USATF certified

Our 5k Race is a great option for runners at every level. This fast course offers a tour of historic Telegraph Avenue, passes through Cal Berkeley’s iconic Sather Gate, around the beautiful Cal campus, and finishes at Crescent Lawn on UC Berkeley’s campus, just a few short blocks from the Main Finish Line Festival. This distance is perfect for new runners, families (strollers and children are welcome), and anyone who loves to experience the community spirit of running together this fall.

5K Race Details

Youth 5K
The Berkeley Half Marathon 5K Race is perfect for runners of all ages. With the approval of a legal guardian, all participants under the age of 12 can participate in our Youth 5K and take advantage of discounted registration ($25.00 plus taxes/fees) and youth sized participant shirts.
Corrals

Start Location: Milvia St. at Kittredge St, Berkeley, CA 94704

Runners will be assigned to a lettered start corral based on their Estimated Finish Time (EFT). The corral assignment will be printed on your bib number. Large flags will designate the corral entrances at the start line – please enter the corral at the flag that corresponds to your corral assignment.

All runners need to be in their corral at the start of the race – the start time for the 5K is 8:30am. As the race starts, corral monitors will bring your corral group forward to the Start Line to start the race. All participants with strollers must run in the last corral.

Corral time and locations are subject to change.
Course Limits
All 5K participants are required to finish the race within 1 hour, a 19:21 minute/mile pace. The Finish Line will close promptly at 9:45 am. Runners who come in after this time will not be considered official finishers.
Water/Fuel Stops & Medical Care
The 5k course includes 1 water stop where you can find water, Nuun electrolyte drink, medical, and toilets. None of water stops on this course have Chargel Energy Gel.

All participants receive a technical fabric long-sleeved shirt. View sizing info here. Finishers receive a finisher’s medal, photos, electronic finisher’s certificate, post-event food (distributed in the finish line chute), beer garden beverage (must be 21 to enter), and finish line festival with music and photo ops.
Awards and Scoring
Gifts will be given to the top three overall men, women, and NB+ 5K winners to cross the finish line. 3D animated awards will be emailed to the top three men, women, and NB+ runners of each age division. (Animated awards will be emailed 3 to 6 weeks post-race, once results have been finalized).
Age Divisions
19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.
Strollers and Dogs
Strollers and dogs are allowed on the 5K course only. Runners with strollers or dogs will be placed in the last starting corral for safety purposes. Registrants intending to run with a stroller must check the box marked “Stroller Division” during registration. Children in strollers are not required to be registered, but will not receive a shirt or medal.
